Tour Guide - Northern Portugal (Portuguese,English & French Speaker)

About the Role

At Northern Roots Travel, we create curated, authentic, and unforgettable journeys. We are looking for a passionate, storytelling Tour Guide fluent in both English and French to lead our international guests through the breathtaking landscapes of Northern Portugal. If you know the Douro Valley, the vibrant Minho region, and our stunning coastline like the back of your hand, we want you on our team!

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage guided tours for individuals and small groups across the Douro, Litoral, and Minho regions.
* Provide engaging, accurate, and captivating commentary on the history, culture, gastronomy, and world-class wine traditions of Northern Portugal in both English and French.
* Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of guests throughout the journey.
* Handle tour logistics, scheduling, and unexpected changes with a problem-solving attitude.
* Deliver an exceptional, personalized hospitality experience that aligns with our brand standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

Language Proficiency: Native or bilingual fluency in English and French (mandatory). Knowledge of Portuguese or other languages is a plus.

Regional Expertise: Deep knowledge of Northern Portugal’s heritage, local lifestyle, hidden gems, and wine culture (especially Douro and Vinho Verde regions).

Experience: Proven experience as a Tour Guide, Tour Leader, or in a high-end customer service role within the tourism industry.

Certified Guide License: RNAAT certification or official tour guide license in Portugal is highly valued.

Driver’s License: Valid Portuguese/EU driving license (Category B) and confidence in driving passengers (essential for regional mini-van tours).
